Voices for the Forgotten - Elderly and Children Relief Project

In South Africa right now, there is a silent crisis happening behind closed doors.
It is a crisis of loneliness, pain, and lost dignity.

At Helping SA, we are witnessing a level of suffering that is difficult to put into words.

The Silent Cry of the Elderly Imagine working your entire life, raising a family, and contributing to society, only to spend your final years in a damp, dimly lit backroom.
We find elderly citizens sleeping on thin blankets over freezing cement floors, their bodies aching from arthritis that is aggravated by the cold.

Many are forced to make an impossible choice: buy their chronic medication or buy a loaf of bread. They cannot afford both. We see the despair in their eyes—not just from hunger, but from the crushing heartbreak of abandonment.
They sit day after day, waiting for family members who never visit, feeling like a burden that has been discarded.

The Burden on the Children On the other side, we see children who have been robbed of their childhoods. In child-headed households, where parents have passed away or left, we see 10-year-olds taking on the role of mother and father. These children don't worry about toys; they worry about survival. They go to school with stomachs that are literally knotting with hunger cramps, unable to focus on the chalkboard because they are dizzy from malnutrition. The shame of wearing torn uniforms and having no lunchbox isolates them, crushing their self-esteem before they’ve even had a chance to start life.

This is where we step in, and where we need you.
Helping SA restore what has been lost.

For the Elderly: We provide not just food, but dignity. We bring warm bedding to get them off the floor, we provide listening ears to cure the loneliness, and nutritious meals to strengthen their frail bodies.

For the Children: We put food in their bellies so they can keep knowledge in their heads. We provide the emotional support they desperately need to feel like children again.
The Reality of Costs The line of people asking for help grows longer every day, but our resources are stretched thin. Because we procure in bulk, your contribution creates a miracle of abundance:

R100 keeps 2 people fed for 2 days.
R500 keeps 2 people fed for 10 days.
R1,000 provides security and food for nearly 3 weeks.

You Can Restore Hope We are asking you to look at this not just as a donation, but as a lifeline.

Your contribution stops a senior from giving up.
Your generosity allows a child to dream again, rather than just survive.
Your support tells a lonely pensioner that they matter.
